Rabbi Gideon Shloush shared meaningful words of Torah as part of Manhattan Day School’s weekly Rabbinic Advisory Council speakers series. Rabbi Shloush shared a beautiful insight by Rav Lichtenstein about the two miracles of Chanukah, the miracle of the oil and the military miracle. Each miracle speaks to a different type of Jew, those who care about halachot and keeping mitzvot and those who care about advocating for Israel and the Jewish people. However, we cannot just be Jews who care about mitzvot without caring about the Jewish people and vice-versa. We must remember that there are TWO miracles of Chanukah and they represent the kind of Jews we must be. Thank you to Avigayil Shloush for beautifully introducing her father.
